Iiripillisaare nighttrip

Name of hiking trip: IIRIPILLISAARE NIGHTTRIP
Rough length of hiking trip: 8 km
Location: Iiripillisaar swamp island, Plaamandisaare bog, Kõrvemaa Landscape Reserve, Paide parish, Järva county

We will walk across Plaamandisaare bog and admire the wild beauty of its boggy landscape early in the morning. If we are lucky with weather, we will catch the flying mists before the morning sun. You will experience unforgettable moments as a true sign of faith. To see and sense all those things properly and… take in all the splendour, you should be open to new sensations. Your inseparable trekking companion in the early morning hours is a silver misty carpet of dewdrops, covered with spider nets, unfolding across the boggy landscape. This is the glory beyond the words or even beyond the paint brush – you must see it with your own eyes. We will visit Iiripillisaar, covered in a fantastic fairy-tale wood where the old platyfyllous grove grows, mainly consisting of old oaks and lime-trees. Late spring is the time when amazing golden lady slippers grow. The tour also includes visiting Sibisaar and Kabelisaar swamp islands, where we walk along Plaamandisaare bog and admire their wild landscape and watersheds. By the way, long ago  the Kabelisaar swamp island might have also been a sacred oakery since almost all Kabeli-named places used to be sacred oakeries in the old days. Later, when orthodox religion and churches appeared, they were called either Kabelimägi or Kabelisaar. On the way back from Iiripillisaar we will swing by to the Jägala river and stop at its wild shelvy coast to admire the unique fantastic views. Cranberry gastronomic experiences are offered in the harvesting period (April-May and August-November). The menu of lunch break in Iiripillisaar includes hot tea boiled from plants grown in the Estonian countryside, freshly baked scones, and chocolate for dessert. At the end of hiking trip you can order a rich breakfast from organic products which is served in Lau village. Breakfast and a choice of dishes should be pre-ordered 3 days before. In addition, there is an opportunity to go to a smoke sauna and stay in the village for a night. The smoke sauna is an archaically-looking wooden nut located near an idyllically peaceful pond, it has also a special role in recreating the past in this time trekking, which was created by Ajamatkad, so that people could feel and smell how people really lived in the old days.
