Location: Vaharu bog, Pärinurme village, Saue parish, Harju county

We will hike to Rahamataguse mägi (locates in Rahama bog), to the pond behind Põlendmägi, with a naturally beautiful place for picnic. The landscape there is enlivened by the old oaks. Initially, the surrounding forests used to be forest meadows that still can be traced amidst the forests. We will go to Tammesõõrimägi, (in english: hill of oak’s circle) with mostly old oaks growing there. We will not miss an opportunity to have a look at a mysterious ring of oaks that grow in the north of the swamp island. A sacrifice altar might have existed there a long ago. In the late spring and early summer the bogs in the area look lovely with lots of different cupped flowers in blossom, while in the hills that is the time for the season of a marvellous golden ladies’ slipper. We will hike from Tammesõõrimägi to Järvemets, and admire the fabulous views of a quaking Vaharu lake. In the course of trekking adventure, we will retell you local legends, speak about the history of ancient Estonians, the mythology and traditions. The menu of lunch break in Tammesõõrimägi includes hot tea boiled from plants grown in the Estonian countryside, freshly baked scones, and chocolate for dessert. At the end of hiking tour, for additional pay, you can order a rich supper in Viikingite Küla (Vikings’ settlement), located in Saula village. Menus are provided upon a request. Hikers, who wish to order supper, should make order not later than a day in advance, indicating their choice of dishes. There is also an opportunity to enjoy an archaic cave sauna. Cave sauna is presumably one of the most archaic types of sauna. For ages, a countless number of sauna users enjoyed steam bath benefits. Sauna has always had a strong magical importance in traditional life of Estonians. We have been using sauna as a way to hunt away evil spirits, or place for keeping fit. Sauna was a place where life started and ended. Sauna bench may accommodate 10 people, and up to 20 people can share tables in the dressing-room.
